Through the integration of local ecology, public space, and lively social programs bringing residents and visitors to the area year round. To achieve this goal of becoming an important commercial city of Yangpyeong we intend to intersect high speed programs along the pedestrian street with the natural beauty of the nearby stream. To achieve this we can describe our process simply with four words, Extending, Integrating, Activating, and Engaging. Extending the public walkways into and through the street and into each site creating a primary pedestrian mall with secondary gathering spaces for more intimate encounters. Integrating landscape within the urban fabric providing relaxing zones for leisure along the sites busy mall. Activating “THE SPINE” by bringing new, consumer friendly program and activity to increase the use of the area as both a sustainable place to live but also to visit. Engaging the surrounding area by providing multiple points of entry into the pedestrian mall making all areas connected while also taking advantage of the natural landscape to add more beauty to the area while creating attractive seasonal program.
